Words of Wisdom – Classical Composers

Words of Wisdom From Classical Composers

For this instalment of Words of Wisdom we look at some of the minds behind the greatest classical music ever written.

We place a little extra focus on none other than Ludwig van Beethoven.

Beethoven’s work has been regarded as some of the greatest music ever written.

Ludwig Van Beethoven 1770 – 1827

Beethoven chose not to listen to the work of his contemporaries because he feared it would influence his own writing.

He wrote 9 symphonies throughout his career. All of Beethoven’s symphonies have four movements.

Beethoven was entirely deaf by the time he wrote his 9th Symphony — considered to be one of his greatest works. He conducted the orchestra when he presented the 9th Symphony.

Reportedly, the audience was on its feet applauding, but due to his deafness, Beethoven didn’t realize it until someone turned him around to face the audience.
