Carey Price Comforts Young Fan Who Lost Mom To Cancer

Carey Price Comforts Young Fan Who Lost Mom To Cancer

Montreal Canadiens star goaltender Carey Price is in the news again but not for his play on the ice.  Instead, Carey Price is stealing headlines with his empathy and kindness displayed with a young fan.  During warm-ups before a game in Toronto, Price met Anderson. Anderson had recently lost his mom to cancer the year prior.

When Anderson’s mom was sick she promised him she would do everything in her power to help meet his hero Carey Price.  Unfortunately, she passed away before they were able to meet Carey. With a little help from friends and the Montreal Canadiens Anderson’s dream came true.

Over And Above

Andersons Aunt took him to the morning skate to meet the superstar goalie.  It would have been one thing for Carey to come over and greet the young fan. But he chose to spend some time with Anderson, giving him an array of autographed memorabilia. Most importantly he gave him a huge hug that will last forever. As a result, she has this to say about Price on social media.

“As you can see in the video, Carey Price was a class act not only giving Anderson two signed sticks, a signed puck, signing his jersey and mini stick but he also gave him the biggest hug. Words cannot describe how much this meant to Anderson and we are forever grateful to this wonderful man.”

Classic Animation – The Sweater

Classic Animation – The Sweater

The Hockey Sweater

Take a trip down memory lane and see if you remember this classic video from the early years. It’s based on the classic children’s book The Hockey Sweater.

In this animated short, Roch Carrier recounts the most mortifying moment of his childhood. At a time when all his friends worshipped Maurice “Rocket” Richard and wore his number 9 Canadiens hockey jersey, the boy was mistakenly sent a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey from Eaton’s. Unable to convince his mother to send it back, he must face his friends wearing the colors of the opposing team.

Teddy Bear Hockey Toss Hits All-Time Record

Teddy Bear Hockey Toss Hits All-Time Record

The heartwarming Hershey Bears 2018 Teddy Bear Toss has broken a new record with nearly 35,000 stuffed animals thrown onto the ice on Sunday at the Giant Centre in Pennsylvania.

The Teddy Bear Toss takes place every year across minor professional and junior hockey arenas, as fans are invited to bring stuffed toys to the game and hurl them over the boards when the home team scores its first goal.

Those teddy bears and other assorted stuffed animals are then donated to children in need, in time for the holidays. The Teddy Bear Toss is an annual tradition where hockey fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the first goal to donate to charity.

The concept originated with the Kamloops Blazers in 1993. The tradition spread quickly through the  Canadian Hockey League, and around the world; excluding the National Hockey League, which discourages anything thrown on the ice

The night also produced tens of thousands of dollars in monetary donations. Pennsylvania charity CommunityAid had pledged to donate 50 cents per stuffed animal thrown (up to $15,000) and an anonymous season ticket holder pledged $1 per stuffed animal.

You can see a video of the record breaking moment below.
