The Six Hidden Giants Of Holland

The Six Hidden Giants Of Holland

The Six Hidden Giants Of Holland

The massive whimsical “Six Forgotten Giants” forests are right out of a magical legend!

Envisioned and created by imaginative Danish artist Thomas Dambo the sculptures are hidden in western Copenhagen‘s forest. His dream was to create an open-air treasure hunt.

“As humans, we often have a way of choosing the beaten path and the main road. So when the municipalities of west Copenhagen contacted me about a project it seemed natural to make something which could get people out and explore the beautiful nature in the hidden outskirts, which you usually wouldn’t see.”

Using recycled scrap wood, the incredible sculptures were built with the help of locals. They were then intentionally hidden in six of West Copenhagen’s municipalities. Thomas wanted to entice folks of all ages to explore new places they’ve to find the wooden giants.

Words of Wisdom- Amelia Earhart

Words of Wisdom- Amelia Earhart

Words of Wisdom- Amelia Earhart

Amelia Earhart was an incredible human and American aviator who set many flying records and championed the advancement of women in aviation.

She became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and the first person ever to fly solo from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland during a flight to circumnavigate the globe. And just for fun she went on design clothes and to become a faculty consultant at Purdue University.

Born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897 she defied traditional gender roles from a young age. Earhart played basketball, took an auto repair course and briefly attended college. During World War I, she served as a Red Cross nurse’s aid in Toronto, Canada. Earhart began to spend time watching pilots in the Royal Flying Corps train at a local airfield while in Toronto.

She started flying lessons with female flight instructor Neta Snook in 1921 and later that year, she purchased her first airplane, a secondhand Kinner Airster. She nicknamed the yellow airplane “the Canary.” Her first record came in 1922 when she became the first woman to fly solo above 14,000 feet. Earhart consistently worked to promote opportunities for women in aviation

In 1937, Earhart attempted to fly around the world, and her plane disappeared that year. Her legacy continues to inspire pilots of all genders today, and her bravery proved that women (and men) can do whatever they set their minds to. Earhart’s story is still taught to schoolchildren today. SOURCE REFINERY29, WIKIPEDIA, HISTORY

Magical Bubble Festival

Magical Bubble Festival

Magical Bubble Festival

Bubbles are one of the world’s most magical things that have remained loved by generations. If anything, bubbles are sparking the minds of both creative and scientific folks and are even more popular today!

On 23 September 2018, the award-winning bubble-toy company Dr. Zigs Extraordinary Bubbles organized two outdoor Guinness World Records attempts – for the most people making giant bubbles using tri-string wands and then the most people making bubbles with garland wands.

For these attempts, Dr. Zigs used 300 liters of their “Dragon-Juice” bubble mix and handed out 400 of their giant wands and 400 of their multi-wands. More than 300 people – including 80 of the world’s most celebrated “bubbleologists” from countries as far away as Argentina, New Zealand, Malaysia and Israel – descended on the iconic Caernarfon Castle in Gwynedd, Wales, UK to support the event, and filled the bailey of the medieval fortress with thousands of bubbles.

The magical and memorable record attempts, hosted by Dr. Zigs as part of the Bubble Daze conference, were just two of the many events organized for the World Bubble Festival 2018. Most of the bubble wands that were used in this video will now be heading out to children in need as part of the Dr. Zigs Bubbles Not Bombs project.

Improv Everywhere – Ghostbusters

Improv Everywhere – Ghostbusters

This video is a great example of using fun to problem solve. When the New York Public Library faced budget cuts they asked the creative, fun loving team behind Improv Everywhere to help. By asking the group to stage an Improv Everywhere mission on their property to remind people how special the library is.

“We brought the movie Ghostbusters to life in the reading room of The New York Public Library at 42 Street. We couldn’t say no to the opportunity to do something in their gorgeous, 100-year-old Rose Main Reading Room.

The 1984 movie begins with a scene in the very same room, so we figured it was time for the Ghostbusters to make an encore appearance” Improv Everywhere

Walt Disney – The Multi-Plane Camera

Walt Disney – The Multi-Plane Camera

Walt Disney – The Multi-Plane Camera

Invented by tech-savvy William Garity in 1937 for Walt Disney Studios, The multiplane camera gave viewers the illusion of depth in animated motion pictures.

Before the multiplane camera, animators found it difficult to create a successful tracking shot using traditional animation methods that were expensive and time-consuming. The multiplane camera answered this problem by creating a realistic sense of three-dimensional depth in a cartoon setting. The multiplane camera also made way for new types of special effects in animated films, such as moving water and flickering light

Learn how it helped shaped Disney’s animation from Walt Disney himself in this footage from an episode of an old series called Disneyland from 1957 and see it demonstrated in the Disney classic “Bambi” In the video below.

This video was created by Disney In Honesty.
