The Cousteau families love the mystery and magic of the sea runs almost as deep as the ocean itself.

The legendary Jacques-Yves, also known as Captain Cousteau, was a pioneering explorer of the seas and of the issues that face us today. He co-invented the Aqualung, started a marine conservation movement and created a legacy of passion for the ocean that continues today. He was also the inspiration for the iconic red torqued explorer in Wes Anderson’s film life aquatic.

His son Jean-Michel Cousteau is an explorer, diplomat for the environment, educator, and film producer, Jean-Michel Cousteau has communicated his love and concern for our water planet to people of all nations and generations for more than four decades.

The second son of Jacques-Yves and Simone Cousteau, Philippe was one of the world’s first scuba divers, a photographer, filmmaker, author, and pilot.The second son of Jacques-Yves and Simone Cousteau, Philippe was one of the world’s first scuba divers, a photographer, filmmaker, author, and pilot.

His son Philippe Cousteau has continued the work of his father and grandfather by educating the public about environmental and conservation issues. In 2017, he received an Emmy nomination for hosting the syndicated science series Awesome Planet.
